skechers for nurses

Skechers are a great choice for nurses looking for shoes that are both comfortable, stylish, and affordable.

While, I would argue that they don’t offer the degree of support and ergonomic design you will find in running shoes from the likes of Asics, or Addidas, there’s still plenty of good reasons to opt for a classic pair of Sketchers.

However, there are a ton of options available from this well-known brand. In this article, I have narrowed down the options to those that are most appropriate for medical staff and healthcare workers.

So if you are ready? Let’s jump in.

The Reviews

1. BEST FOR WOMEN: Skechers Women’s Ghenter Bronaugh Food Service Shoe

My top pick all-around women’s Skecher for nurses is the Ghenter Bronaugh Food Service Shoe.

Yes, don’t be put off by the fact they are specifically designed for food service workers. The fact is they are meant for women that are on their feet all day and require a comfortable, non-slip shoe.

That’s exactly what these deliver on. They have sold thousands of these on Amazon, with some excellent feedback throughout.

The 100% mesh fabric upper is breathable, and the shoe is extremely lightweight. This helps with the comfort levels and reduces the chances of hot, smelly feet at the end of a shift.

Furthermore, the rubber sole is shaped for superior grip so you won’t be slipping and sliding on the inevitable wet surfaces that you will come across.

Stylistically, they are a bit on the bland side. You have a choice of black or white. However, in a strict healthcare environment, this is appropriate.

They have the shape of sneakers, and also have the Skechers “S” logo on the side. This simple design is all you need in my opinion.

Finally, they are true to size which makes buying them online a lot easier. As long as you are accurate with your shoe size, this will fit you well.

Overall, an excellent pair of Skechers where the feedback speaks for itself. A great choice for women nurses.

2. BEST FOR MEN: Skechers for Work Men’s Felton Slip Resistant Relaxed-Fit Work Shoe

My top pick for men is based on the feedback that this shoe has got online after several thousand reviews.

I’ll be honest, there are a few comments that crop up about the quality of the Men’s Felton Skechers show in terms of longevity, however, these are in the minority.

The overriding opinion of these is a very comfortable shoe, with reliable non-slip attributes, and a roomy design that is great if you’re on your feet all day.

Taking a closer look at the actual shoe, it sports a lace-up vamp with reinforced stitching throughout.

There is also a very nice padded tongue and collar. The built-in memory is foam padded insole insert is a real benefit and is a big reason this is designed specifically as a work shoe. The manufacturer knows that they are to be worn for multiple hours on a daily basis.

The soft fabric shoe lining with shock-absorbing midsole supports the foot to a degree that makes them appropriate even if you suffer from conditions such as flat feet.

The Men’s Felton Slip Resistant show also features an OSHA-complaint nitrile outsole. This makes them sturdy and easy to clean; exactly what you need for a hectic day on the ward.

3. MOST STYLISH: Skechers for Work Women’s Synergy Sandlot Work Shoe

Sketchers’ workshoes are not known for their colorful aesthetic qualities. Generally speaking, they are quite bland.

Then again, this is quite understandable considering they are designed for a working environment.

If you are after a pair of Skechers with a splash of color, I can definitely recommend the Women’s Synergy Sandlot Lace-Up Work Shoe.

While they are a lot more subdued than what the likes of Asics offer, the option of a red or blue motif along with the overall black coloring, is a welcome change.

Another big reason to opt for this shoe is the built-in alloy toe cap. The shoes are still lightweight and designed more like a sneaker, however, they offer greater protection with that reinforced toe.

This is something we can all benefit from when working in a busy healthcare environment and instruments are inevitably dropped, or we bump into things.

If you are worried that a sturdier shoe takes longer to wear in and might be less comfortable, this really isn’t the case with the Synergy Sandlot.

They feature a low-heel cut-out to avoid blisters around the Achilles. They also have memory foam inserts for greater comfort on the base of your feet.

The rubber sole is non-slip too of course.

Customers have stated that they do run a bit wide, so bear that in mind before you buy, (although this is great for anyone with wide feet, or if you layer up with compression socks). Length-wise, the shoes are true to size.

Overall a quality and sturdy work sketcher for nurses that offer a splash of color too. What more could ask for?

4. BEST BUDGET (WOMEN’S): Skechers Women’s Bobs Squad

If you are looking for a budget pair of Sketchers that are comfortable enough for a long day at work, while also having a little flair, these are the ones to go for.

First, the flair part. This will not be to everyone’s taste, the women’s bobs squad features a little black bow across the front. I happen to find this really cute. You may not of course.

The comfort stems from the fact these are engineered knit sneakers complete with memory foam inserts.

This makes them the most lightweight shoe in my top 5, with a lot of comforts to boot, (excuse the pun).

The mesh top is still sturdy enough for a working environment, (although if you are looking for extra protection you should opt for the Synergy Sandlot reviewed above), while also being ultra-breathable.

They feature a flexible, man-made sole, however, they are not as slip-resistant as some of my other choices.

Overall, though, these are very comfortable and will look after your feet during a long day at work.

BEST BUDGET (MEN’S): Skechers Men’s Dightn Athletic Work Food Service Shoe

My top budget pick for men is the Skechers Men’s Dightn Athletic Work Food Service Shoe.

Again, don’t be put off by the foodservice bit, this just means that they are designed to be worn all day long.

They also have handy characteristics appropriate for nurses in that they are easy to wipe clean, and will look good in the strictest of work environments.

I’m more interested in the comfort factor, however. Do these shoes offer the support and breathability one needs for work in a busy healthcare environment?

Spoiler: yes they do! They wouldn’t make my top 5 if they didn’t.

There are a few things that help in this regard. One is the padded collar and thick padded tongue. Two, these Skechers feature soft fabric shoe linings and memory foam insoles.

For a better and more secure fit, they are lace-up. The downside of this is that they are not as easy to slip on and off.

Importantly, they have a non-slip sole and an easy to clean durable leather (manmade) upper.

And all of this at a great price too. If you are a male nurse on a budget and are looking for a comfortable pair of Skechers, I would say you have found them with these.

Final Words

I will likely add to this list after I have had more feedback from readers and colleagues on what Skechers they prefer right now.

As always, if you have any opinions or comments please leave them below. It makes my day to hear from you all.
